Geordie Wood

Geordie’s approach to photography is shaped by a search for authenticity. His work pays testimony to the candor of street photography, the field that first ignited his interest in the medium, while demonstrating a singular formal and conceptual vision that he has honed over the course of his practice.

Whether working on a large-scale fashion shoot, a one-on-one portrait or a personal project, Geordie is committed to stripping away artifice to capture something real. At the core of his photographs is the intimate encounter between photographer and subject. During his former post as photo director of The FADER, he devised, commissioned and shot stories with countless public figures, each time driven by the desire to lift the veil of the curated persona and make an enduring image that reached beyond its context.

Geordie constantly seeks to explore the possibilities of photography and develop his ideas through new collaborations and personal work. He is currently planning a series that weaves a narrative across time and place to explore his heritage through the stories of five American men with his namesake.

Geordie was born in 1985 in Medford, Massachusetts. He graduated from the Newhouse School at Syracuse University with a hybrid degree in Photojournalism and Fine Art Photography then moved to New York. He is based in Brooklyn.

Clients include: Adidas, Bushmills, Converse, Deutsche Bank, Johnson & Johnson, Nike, Reebok, Red Bull, Samsung, Sprite, Uniqlo and Urban Outfitters. His work has been published by Esquire, The Fader, Newsweek, The New York Times, The New Yorker, Nowness, Rolling Stone, Time, and Vogue.
