Mark is influenced by vernacular photography and spontaneous portraiture, drawn to the beauty in the pensive moment, elusive emotional states and sometimes humorous. His art practice gives a depth and substance to the rigours of effective commercial, editorial image-making and he enjoys the dialogue between the two.

Mark Peckmezian was born in 1985 in Toronto and graduated from Ryerson in 2010, releasing his first book, Photographs & Pictures, as an artist’s edition the same year. In 2009 he was the Canadian Winner at ‘Flash Forward’, which travelled from Toronto to Boston and New York. Mark has also exhibited in Cologne and Berlin. In 2011 Mark was nominated Best New Creative Talent at the National Magazine Awards (Canada) and Portrait of the Year in 2013. Selected publications include NYLON, Twin Magazine, The New Yorker,  Bloomberg Businessweek, SMUG, Toronto Life, Dear Dave Magazine, and Up & Coming. Mark is based in New York City.
